The Politecnico di Torino scholarships for students from war-affected countries are part of a new initiative launched in Italy to support international students facing geopolitical crises and armed conflicts. Politecnico di Torino has allocated 150 scholarships worth 1,000 euros each for students enrolled in the 2025/26 academic year.
The programme aims to protect the right to education even during highly unstable situations. Bachelor’s and master’s degree students can apply if they meet the university’s eligibility criteria.

In addition to financial support, Politecnico di Torino introduced extraordinary measures to reduce administrative pressure on students affected by international emergencies. Extended deadlines are available for tuition payments, master’s degree applications and PhD interviews.
One of the most significant measures is the academic year neutralisation. This means the period linked to the beginning of the conflict in a student’s home country will not be counted in academic progression. As a result, delays caused by war conditions will not automatically lead to penalties.

Support services for students

The Politecnico di Torino scholarships initiative also strengthens personal support services. The university expanded its Spazio di Ascolto, the psychological counselling service, and reinforced the Immigration Desk, which assists students with residence permits and administrative procedures in Italy.
Young people arriving from conflict areas often experience emotional stress, uncertainty and integration challenges alongside financial difficulties. For this reason, the university aims to create a more inclusive academic environment for vulnerable international students.
The initiative reflects a growing focus among Italian universities on supporting international students during emergency situations. At the same time, measures like these can help students continue their academic journey with greater stability and fewer administrative obstacles.
Applications for the new scholarships must be submitted through the online procedure available on the University’s Teaching Portal. The rankings will be determined on the basis of academic merit, according to transparent criteria that take into account the credits earned and the average grade of the exams completed.
